How to Create a Subdomain with TrexHost

TrexHost – Best Web Hosting: Fast, Reliable & Affordable Solutions - Visit: https://trexhost.com

If you’re looking to add a blog, an online store, a dedicated help center, or anything else to your website, creating a subdomain is one of the quickest and easiest ways to do it. With TrexHost, you can host unlimited subdomain websites—all in a single hosting account.

Instead of using messy folder paths like example.com/shop, you can set up a clean, branded address like shop.example.com. It looks more professional, keeps your site organized, and saves you the trouble of registering a whole new domain name.

What’s a Subdomain, Briefly?

Think of subdomains as separate hostnames that belong to your main domain. For example:

  • blog.example.com
  • shop.example.com

Both are subdomains of example.com. You can even go deeper—spanish.shop.example.com is a subdomain of shop.example.com. In theory, you can nest up to 127 levels deep, with each level up to 63 characters (total domain length capped at 255 characters). In practice, some registries have shorter limits, but for most uses, that’s plenty.

Steps to Create a Subdomain with TrexHost

Before you can create a subdomain with TrexHost, you’ll need to add your domain as a hosted domain. If you haven’t done that yet, check out our guide on How to Host a Domain first.

A quick clarification: Adding a domain as a hosted domain doesn’t mean it has to be hosted with us. If you’re hosting example.com elsewhere, you can keep it right where it is – we’ll only host the subdomain, like blog.example.com, on our servers. This gives you the flexibility to use our web hosting for specific parts of your site while keeping your main domain where it is.

Already added it? Then just follow the steps below.

Step 1: Log In to Your Control Panel

Head over to your TrexHost hosting control panel at:

Enter your credentials and log in.

Step 2: Navigate to Hosted Domains

From the main navigation menu, go to:

My Domains > Hosted Domains

This is where all your connected domains are listed.

Step 3: Click the “Create a Subdomain” Button

Look for the CREATE A SUBDOMAION button on the right side of the page. Click it to get started.

Step 4: Enter Your Subdomain Name

In the subdomain field, type the name you’d like to use. Keep it short and relevant to what you’re building:

  • blog â€“ for your blog
  • shop â€“ for an online store
  • help â€“ for a support/knowledge base
  • events â€“ for event pages

And more – you can actually use any name you like.

Step 5: Select Your Domain

From the dropdown menu, choose the domain you want the subdomain attached to.

For example, if you entered help as your subdomain and select example.com from the dropdown, your full subdomain will be:

help.example.com

Advanced Settings – this section is optional. Please leave the default settings if you are not sure what to do.

Step 6: Click “Add a Host”

Once you’ve double-checked everything, click the Add a Host button. That’s it!

Your new subdomain will be created within seconds and ready to use.

Heads up: If your domain isn’t using our nameservers, you’ll need to point the DNS A record for the subdomain to our server IP address. You can find your server IP on the Hosted Domains page in your control panel.

What’s Next?

Now that your subdomain is set up, you can:

  • Install a separate WordPress site on it (using the 1-click auto-installer)
  • Create a staging environment for testing
  • Set up a dedicated help desk or forum
  • Launch a multilingual version of your site (e.g., es.example.com)

The possibilities are endless – a subdomain is essentially a completely new website. You can run a separate brand, install different platforms, or build anything you want, all under your main domain.
